Terms of Service

These terms describe how Vehicode API access, subscriber accounts, billing, and vehicle data usage work.

Last updated: July 15, 2026

Service

Vehicode provides VIN decoding, vehicle data enrichment, API access, subscriber account tools, and related administrative workflows.

The service is designed for developer and business use. Vehicle data may be incomplete, inferred, or updated over time, especially during early coverage expansion.

Accounts and API Keys

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and API keys secure. API keys should be used only from trusted backend systems and must not be published in client-side code or public repositories.

We may suspend or revoke keys that appear compromised, abusive, automated in a harmful way, or used outside the intended API limits.

Acceptable Use

You may not use Vehicode to attack, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, bypass rate limits, resell access without permission, or process unlawful data.

You may not submit data that infringes third-party rights or attempts to identify private individuals beyond what is necessary for a lawful vehicle workflow.

Vehicle Data and Accuracy

VIN decoding results are provided as best-effort vehicle intelligence. We combine internal rules, validated observations, approved corrections, and optional AI-assisted enrichment.

You should verify important vehicle facts before making legal, safety, insurance, financing, or high-value commercial decisions. Client-facing responses intentionally exclude internal notes, sources, and diagnostics.

Plans and Usage Limits

Free and paid plans include monthly API request limits shown on the pricing page and subscriber portal. Limits reset monthly unless a custom agreement says otherwise.

Requests that exceed a plan limit may return a rate-limit response until the next reset, plan upgrade, or manual limit adjustment.

Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed through our payment processor. The subscriber portal may show the current plan, billing status, usage, and cancellation state.

Unless stated otherwise, cancellations take effect at the end of the paid billing period. Refund handling is described in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Corrections and Feedback

You may report incorrect decode results through the API or contact form. Reports may be reviewed and used to improve decoder rules, learned candidates, and validation workflows.

Submitting a correction does not guarantee immediate acceptance, but it helps us improve coverage and data quality.

Changes and Availability

We may update the service, plans, API responses, limits, and these terms as the product evolves. We aim to keep breaking changes controlled and documented.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability during maintenance, provider outages, infrastructure incidents, or early-stage product changes.
